The Relationship between Adolescent Internet Game Addiction Disposition and Recognition of School Violence - Focusing on the mediating effect of Reality Perception Level -

Abstract
This study has been carried out to verify the mediated effect of Reality Perception Level on the relationship between tendency of Internet Game Addiction and Recognition of School Violence. Four hundred thirty nine middle school student were recruited from Metroplitan Gyeonggi-do areas and were asked to fill out the Internet Game Addiction Scale, Perception Level of Reality Scale and Recognition of School Violence Scale. The major findings were as follows. First, the correlational analysis showed statistically significant correlations among tendency of Internet Game Addiction Disposition, Recognition of School Violence and Reality Perception Level. For example, higher the internet addiction tendency the adolescents have, more confused they were about the relationship between cyber world and reality, and thus they became more permissive about school violence and more negative toward the school violence victims than those who are less addictive to internet games. Second, the hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed the mediating effects of the whole a subordinate concept of Perception Level of Reality variables for the relationship between tendency of Internet Game Addiction and Recognition of School Violence. Finally, the clinical implications and limitations of this study and further suggestion for future studies were also discussed and suggested.
